Short Biography:

Aleksandar Karac graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Zenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina, with MEng degree in 1998. From April 1999 he worked as an Assistant Lecturer in Machine Design at University of Zenica. In October 1999 he started his PhD project at Imperial College London and successfully finished it in 2003. His work involved development of finite-volume based fluid-structure-fracture procedure for drop impact phenomena of fluid-filled plastic containers. In 2004 he was awarded Lectureship in Product Testing at University of Zenica. From 2004 he was appointed as a postdoctoral researcher on several projects at School of Electrical, Electronic and Mechanical Engineering, University College Dublin, namely, numerical investigation of atherosclerosis, impact resistance of lungs and modelling of adhesively bonded joints. He is currently involved as a postdoctoral researcher at UCD, dealing with numerical modelling of adhesively bonded composite joints. From 2009 he also acts as a Associate Professor in Product Testing at University of Zenica.

Research Interests:

  1. -Numerical modelling of adhesive joints.

  2. -Numerical modelling of biomechanics (contact analysis).

  3. -Development of fluid-structure-fracture problems.

  4. -Numerical modelling of atherosclerosis.
