Short Biography:

Vincent Cooper graduated from University College Dublin in 2005 with a BE (Hons) in mechanical engineering. His final year project involved an investigation into the peel testing of flexible laminates and the work was presented at the 9th International Conference on the Science and Technology of Adhesion and Adhesives in Oxford, UK. In October 2005, he began his PhD entitled ‘The Characterisation of Structural Adhesives’ under the supervision of Prof. Alojz Ivankovic. This research is focuses the fracture behaviour of nano-toughened, structural epoxy adhesives. The project involves extensive material testing and experimental studies along with the use of finite volume methods to simulate the fracture behaviour of adhesively bonded joints. The work is supported by Henkel Ireland and the Irish Research Council for Science Engineering and Technology (IRCSET).

Research Interests:

  1. -Fracture behaviour of structural adhesives.

  2. -Testing and FV modelling of adhesive joints.

  3. -Material fracture mechanisms.

  4. -Materials testing.
